My Experience of English Teaching Practice in Front of The Class Using Falling Clouds

It is not the first time for me to teach in front of class. but, it is the first time to teach by using an offline software application. Before we teach, my group members and I learn about Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), then we try to find some applications about CALL to make easy in learning Language, especially learning English. Finally, we find an application about CALL. It is FALLING CLOUDS.

In this game we have to move words around to make a sentence. We can practice English grammar by rearranging words to make a complete sentence. The sentences get more complicated as you progess. Hopefully this game is a good way to practice sentence structures and review word order.

Grammar is an important part of learning English as it is something that differs between languages. Things such as word order and tense vary a lot across different languages. Also simply knowing grammar rules isn’t really enough as we have to get practice using the rules with words in different situations. The best way to do this is to read, write, listen and speak English. The easiest way to increase your awareness of grammar is through reading particularly if you can find a book or a passage that you enjoy reading. With this game you can also practice and improve your awareness of sentence order and structures so as to help we studying.

There are more than a hundred different phrases here each jumbled up into a random order. Also at the end of each round there is a bonus word with letters you have to re-arrange to form the word correctly.

First, I give instruction to the students to follow the instruction in slide show. Then, I give first example to do start the game. We have to move "Like" in center of sentence to arrange correct sentence. Next, students help us to answer the next sentence, and we are together to make clear sentence.

In Falling Clouds, there is time limit. If we are slowly to arrange the sentence, the clouds of the sentence will fall down, and there is a new sentence. So, we have to do fast in arranging the sentence correctly.

I think this games is an inspiring and an interesting games. students look enjoy with this game. They participate when we taught this games. All of us are very happy with the Falling Clouds.
